Maria Brink has every right to seem hardcore since if you look at her life to this date she’s had some rough times in her past and yet she’s managed to move through and past them in order to become the woman she is today. That’s the kind of tough that people don’t talk about all the time unless it’s a way to get it off their chest and make it seem like less than it really is. So many of us know hardship in our lives but when we look back and realize how we got through it some of us tend to see that it wasn’t all that bad and in some ways was rather trivial. For Maria however none of it was likely that way since she was given a rather raw deal when it came to her life and had to deal with a great number of things that came as complications and adversities from the core problems that defined her early years.
Here’s a few things you probably didn’t know about her.
10. Her social media following is very impressive.
If this is used as any measure of her success then you can see that she’s managed to amass a large number of followers that have either come from similar backgrounds or have simply decided that she is worth following for various reasons and are willing to keep her in mind.
9. She’s the frontwoman of the metalcore band In This Moment.
Metalcore is basically extreme metal and punk rock mashed together to produce a sound that is highly conducive to moshing and has its own distinctive noise that is almost grinding and grating in a way but a definite rhythm that seems to speak to the more primal side of humanity. It’s the kind of music that awakens something in people that many would never admit to having in the first place.
8. She’s been awarded a few times for her performances.
Maria has impressed a number of people with her performances as she’s been named Rock Goddess of the Year and Hottest Chick in Metal, among other titles and awards that have been bestowed upon her over the years. Given the genre she’s in that’s something to be very proud of no doubt.
7. She’s 40 years old.
To still be rocking and grinding away when she’s in her 40s isn’t something that you might say is ultimately impressive since she’s in great shape and looks like she could keep going, but it is interesting and very eye-catching when you realize her age.
6. Her father disappeared when she was still very young.
This is something that too many kids throughout the nation, regardless of color or race, have to deal with at times and it can lead to a great disturbance in their childhood as well as recurring problems as they grow up without a male role model in their lives. There’s nothing to say that she didn’t have such a role model, but the one man that was supposed to stick around dropped the ball it would seem.
5. She became pregnant at 14.
There are a great many statistics that would analyze and explain this away but the truth is that whether her child was a mistake or not she kept her child and raised him on her own while working hard to support the two of them. This is a strong-willed woman obviously that had more ambition and determination than many.
4. She dealt with depression when she was young.
With her father leaving and her mother being a drug addict it’s not hard to see why depression would be a very real thing in her life. The depression led her into the kind of rebellious behavior that might, or might not, have been responsible in her becoming pregnant, but could have also forced her down a path that was much worse.
3. She helped her mother overcome her drug habit.
How many people can claim this kind of credit? Many can say that they made such a habit noticeable and got their parent some help, but Maria was there for her mother even at her lowest and never quit on the woman no matter how bad she got. This speaks of the kind of loyalty, love, and perseverance that doesn’t allow a person to give up and cut and run. She stuck in there when a lot of other people might have thrown their hands up and took a hike. That takes a lot of guts.
2. She’s a vegetarian.
For some reason people look at those that perform hardcore music like metal, punk, and other genres and think that they’ve got to be meat eaters that perhaps eat their steak nearly raw and possibly even dine on live animals depending on their image. But Maria is a pretty devout vegetarian and enjoys it.
1. She’s an aspiring artist.
Apart from singing she’s also been trying her hand at painting, which seems like an interesting endeavor for someone that sings such hardcore songs. Her work could be inspiring to be honest.
