America’s Got Talent: The Top Ten Acts Revealed and the Road to the Finale

America's Got Talent

The moment has arrived. The final results show before the much-anticipated America’s Got Talent finale next week. The top ten acts have been unveiled. Did your favorite act make the cut? Or were they given the metaphorical boot off the stage?

The hour kicked off with an electrifying performance from South Korean boy band BTS (Bangtan Boys), who showcased their new song Idol for the Dolby audience and the judges. I couldn’t help but notice, aside from their dynamic dance moves, that one member’s suit bore a striking resemblance to the one worn by Tom Hanks’ SNL character David S. Pumpkins – minus the jack o’ lanterns, of course. Once the performance concluded, it was time to dive into the results. As per tradition, we began with the bottom three.

The Surprising Bottom Three:

Daniel Emmet

Glennis Grace

We Three

While previous bottom threes have left me in shock, this one truly takes the cake. Glennis Grace was nothing short of spectacular last night, and Daniel Emmet was equally impressive. Granted, the latter’s performance had a musical theater vibe, but both acts were undeniably unique. We Three, on the other hand, somewhat deserved their spot in the bottom three, as they failed to elevate their performance. I still concur with Simon – they didn’t deliver a showstopper song.

As we reached the halfway point of the show, it was time for some comic relief, with Heidi going undercover. The supermodel assumed the role of Jennifer, a Heidi Klum lookalike, accompanied by three other individuals impersonating the other judges. I must admit, none of them bore any resemblance to Simon, Mel B, or Howie. However, I have to give credit to the Howie doppelgänger, who did look somewhat like him. The Simon lookalike, on the other hand, resembled Italian opera singer Andrea Bocelli – albeit a shorter version.

I experienced a moment of secondhand embarrassment when Heidi asked a random shirtless guy if she could cut his hair. If a stranger – celebrity lookalike or not – asked me the same question, I would flat out refuse. After all, you never know if they have any experience or sense of style when it comes to hairstyling. That being said, she did a decent job with the shirtless guy’s surfer look. Perhaps a second career awaits Heidi?

As the results continued, Vicki Barbolak was the first act to secure a spot in the final top five. To be honest, I was quite surprised, as her comedy routine failed to amuse me last night. However, it seems America found her entertaining enough to vote her through to the finals. It was disheartening to see Aaron Crow leave the competition, but his recent performances had been lackluster. Better luck next year, Aaron! Maybe try speaking next time!

I also felt a pang of sympathy for Tyra when she introduced the sneak peek clip for the upcoming Grinch movie, only for the production team to cut to a commercial break instead. When we returned to the live broadcast, Banks didn’t even mention the Grinch clip mishap and proceeded to the next result. I assume a production member instructed her to keep the show going and pretend the Grinch clip incident never occurred. Nice try, AGT production team, but we all witnessed it – there’s no sweeping it under the rug.

Speaking of the Grinch, we were then treated to a holiday-themed performance from the members of A Magical Cirque Christmas. I could have sworn I recognized a balance beam trio that had previously auditioned for the show, but I could be mistaken. I was somewhat distracted by the abundance of LEDs used on the props and costumes.

The final top five acts were revealed as the remaining eleven acts were gradually whittled down. The second group of five acts are as follows:

The Top Five (final group):

Vicki Barbolak

Courtney Hadwin

Brian King Joseph

Glennis Grace (Dunkin’ Save votes)

Daniel Emmet (Judges Save)

It seems I managed to predict some of them correctly, missing the mark by just one, as I had included Aaron Crow in my top five. Prediction powers aside, the nail-biting pressure continues as the finals commence next week, bringing season thirteen to a close. Who do you think will take home the ultimate prize? Howie believes it will be his Golden Buzzer act, but you never know. Perhaps a certain magician will claim the title? Or a high-flying acrobatic duo?
